Launching New Dimensions of Service

Since 1908, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated has implemented programs of service impacting countless lives.

The 2014-2018 International Program will focus on Launching New Dimensions of Service. Members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, through its 265,000 members and 986 chapters, will have an opportunity to address community needs with programs in five target areas:

  • Educational Enrichment
  • Health Promotion
  • Family Strengthening
  • Environmental Ownership
  • Global Impact

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority will expand its community presence as a result of these initiatives, which include International Community Impact Days and our signature enrichment program, ASCENDTM.

Beta Chi Omega Signature Programs

Pink Ice Ball
Held annually, the Pink Ice Ball is a formal event where the chapter honors local unsung heroes. The Pink Ice Ball is the chapter’s major fundraising effort and funds our scholarship program.

Henry Street
Each year the chapter participates in Henry Street, the premier event of the Harrison Museum of African American Culture. The public festival celebrates the history, culture, heritage, and arts of African Americans. Historically, Beta Chi Omega has sponsored children’s activities that support Alpha Kappa Alpha’s international program initiatives.

Sabrina’s Place
Beta Chi Omega has partnered with Sabrina’s Place, a supervised visitation and safe exchange program of Total Action Against Poverty (TAP) and the City of Roanoke. Sabrina’s Place provides services to families who have experienced domestic violence, child abuse, sexual assault, stalking, and/or dating violence.

Sabrina’s Place is named for one of Beta Chi Omega’s sorors, Sabrina Reed. Sabrina was shot and killed by her estranged husband when he came to pick up their child at her mother’s home.

AKA’s Gospel Best Competition
An annual fundraising event that highlights and places into competition local church and school choirs.
